North Island, Seychelles

North Island is only a few kilometers north of Silhouette Island. It is the smaller of two visible islands seen from the beach at Beau Vallon on Mahé. North Island was first visited in 1609 by Captain Alexander Sharpeigh. It is the most fertile of all Seychelles islands wherein coconuts and thriving land tortoises were discovered. Inhabitants have also been successful harvesting vegetables and gathering fish.

North Island is an eco-tourism market for the island’s biodiversity. Because of its nature preservation, visitors need not worry about strolling barefoot along the shores. Visitors are also encouraged to personally interact with the head chef who delivers a once-in-a-lifetime culinary and dining experience.
